You mean AW's art style? Cause that's what it is. Always has been, though sometimes it's more exaggerated than others. I was surprised when the TKs and Nom didn't get the duckfeet in the early days. Smile

erm. didn't generalize his art style.
if that was the case, i wouldn't even be collecting/here.
gotta read back the big book and check out the feet.
or maybe that's why i collect more of the TKs than anything else.

Well it's just that people familiar with Ashley wood's art shouldn't be at all surprised by the feet. The Marvel and DC toys are supposed to reflect Ash's personal take on the characters. Ash has many styles, but the long and often upturned feet is often part of it. Just do a google image search for Ashley Wood and you will find a variety from the realistic to the more cartoony. But the more cartoony is the style I most associate with Ash's personal work, since everybody else does the more lifelike ones.

Art

Pre-3A Les Mort fig had them. I sure hope the eventual 3A version does as well.

Old Kafka image...

Tankgirl

More recent from Popbot...

The dropcloth has a similar dimension to the foot, just not the curved crafted shape. Heck, the OG Tomorrow Kings shoes have the same shape to a degree, it's just much more subtle that the hard lines of the bot. The overall angles and shapes are there though. A little tweaked, but then that's Ash's drawings and paintings too.

But people really should only collect what they enjoy. I enjoy Ash's art which is what drew me to 3A in the first place. I'm turned off by the licensed stuff mostly. I dislike the more "realistic" items like the Transformers.

We all have different tastes.

thanks for the info.

not "surprised" as you say.
not critical of the art/style as you implied.

just not my "taste" on feet (weird typing that...)
like you said, we all have different tastes.

Ah, fair enough.

To me the upturned feet is what says "Ashley Wood" most in the Ultron design. I'm starting to think between Iron Man, Doom and now Ultron, that it's going to be a distinct signature of the line. Personally, I'm hoping it carries through the female figs as well. Assuming we get some of those.

Good pics, but it makes me like my shadow Ultron less. Ah well, least I know more about what I'm getting! Still love the sculpt.

I'm liking how ultron turned out but I didn't buy one. Got to let the temptation of getting one from after market to subside. Rolling Eyes

As I recall, Iron Man took ages. Doom was rushed out, perhaps to curry favour with the fans/Marvel after the Iron Man QC shemozzle.

Hey Gregory, any chance we could get a little info on the Ultron retooling? What kind of issues was he having/what kind of improvements can we expect?

I do appreciate the news we were given in the shipping update, and it's nice to know the delay is for a good reason and we'll get a better figure for it.

I don't know any of the specifics on the retooling.

We are actively working to be more communicative about delays and alert people sooner regarding them.

Great that issues are being tackled before the figures ship out! Would certainly be interesting to know what improvements are being made.

Really hope they are retooling the elbow and knee joints. That paint ^above^ looks ready to peel right off.
Not a huge fan of the seamless joints and I wouldn't mind mechanical parts there for the sake of preserving the figure's paint application over time.
I think 3A is addressing these problems before they have another Iron Man debacle on their hands.
Will stay patient.

Any suggestion on what to put on the rubber to keep it from drying out? I feel like my Stealth Iron Man is getting to that time where he might need an oil massage...lol.
