Glad you guys enjoy my mock-ups!
But I have to say I'm with pezbanana and IronChap - the original Ash design is great in it's B-movie quirkiness.

Re: WBR SATURN
Yeah the retro 1950's vibe is spot on. I can't quite place it. Would fit right in on a Twilight Zone episode. Or a cereal box. For some reason it makes me think of Frankenberry
Re: WBR SATURN
Totally, reminds me of monsters in B-movies...such a cool retro vibe

Re: WBR SATURN
I've been trying not to overthink this one too much. Somewhere, I said early on I thought it had a very 50s bot/monster movie styling to it. Which is interesting, because Mars and Co. from the first release are totally wrapped in that late 60s-70s style that was carried forward into so many 80s adventure cartoons.
Saturn has a sort of Tetsujin by way of rubber suit Kaiju vibe, with a healthy dose of U.S. rubber suit sci-fi movies. The kind you weren't intended to laugh at, but do now.
And I think this is where the disconnect is happening for me. It feels like a stylistic misstep to the empty (where's the story?) WBR world I was making up in my own noggin.
Almost in the way that having a JJ McGee wearing Pascha show up on a WWR battlefield story would. Or to over emphasize the point. If Saturn turned up in Grave of the Fireflies. The element of goofiness robs a little of the power for me in an indescribable way.
But as I said my interest in the WBR line is cause I love big robots of all kinds. This one is definitely that. It's just caused the whole project to shift gears in an unexpected direction based on Mars. I could see mars firing a gut rocket at a Squidicorn, and have it be a little goofy and still awesome. Saturn fits into that but shifts the scales to the emphasis on the goofy. Squidicorn and now rubber monster giant picklebot. All fine and good, but it overpowers the adventure vibe in a way that I'm not so fond of yet. Still hoping it grows on me when the paint goes on and some ass kicking story comes out.
OR the next figure could fire a robo-dildo at a giant vag-demon. I'm 100% certain there would be other people that would dig on that.
I'd totally laugh my ass off at the audacity and fun of it. And still not buy it.
I loved the MARS release, and I think it struck the perfect balance of retro cool and stylized cartooniness. The balance seems off on Saturn but I really hope he grows on me some more before the release. I was so in love with the first WBR drop.
We shall see.

Re: WBR SATURN
I'll just wait for a more creative third installment in the WBR line. For me the top looks like an infant's toy. Paint app might solve that a little, still I don't see this standing next to the awesome Mars, bottom is too similar and the top is bleh, for now

They weren't as close as I pictured them in my head, but this is what I keep seeing when I look at Saturn.

Saturn actually reminds me of an old movie theater building/casino /old boardwalk carnival ride. You could almost put a marquee in that space just above his shoulders sayin' Now Showing... and those rivets could be like lights. Now that would be a great custom, hmmm...

Haha. Awesome! Only thing missing are some plastic/chrome parts, like a big engine with a blower on it.

I tried, and failed... but you got this instead
Re: WBR SATURN
Nice! Thanks, zzzzz. That's sort of what I envisioned with the lights and the night time street scene. Looks cool. Love it!

Re: WBR SATURN
I wonder if mars issues will delay Saturn. Curious if people are scared off.
3Ago scale would be great for this line!!

Re: WBR SATURN
Nice guys.
So thug was 1/6 and will be made 3Ago scale right?
And yes, Mars is "3Ago" already.
So I will rephrase for you...I wonder if they will may smaller versions of these bots. Better?

Way better.
Thank you.
Now we are able to decipher your original message and start wondering what scale smaller versions of WBR robots would be.
1:12 is still 19".
1:18 is 12.5"
1:24 maybe?
Would be cool

Re: WBR SATURN
Haha. Sure. Glad to help.
Either way, after seeing what happend with REx and Thug.. I'd expect an additional smaller size roll out at some point to help the line continue.
What's this? A nice conversation and more wanting the lines to continue? Sorry for that!
