comicsalliance.com wrote:Take the new Spider-Man, for instance. While the larger, more robotic toy was seen last year, it went through some changes in development to give it more purpose and thoughtfulness in execution.
“The cool thing about the Marvel figure, nothing is just done for the hell of it,” Wood explained. “Nothing is just done for the hell of it. When I talk to [Marvel], they always ask ‘Why? Why would he have a robot?’ And you have to extrapolate, why would he have a robot? Unfortunately you can’t put it into the ads or onto the box.
“We tried to get a comic done, but it’s just too hard for us to publish a Marvel comic. He’s a 16 year-old kid, he’s not going to be jumping into buildings that are on fire, or fighting villains. So he has the semi-autonomous robot that he can control or can run by itself. He can take cool photos. He’s not fighting Green Goblin, he’s got this cool 9’ Spider-Man robot to do it. That’s what Marvel wanted. They wanted that dialogue, not just a cool robot.”
Okay, but it is a cool robot and a cool Peter Parker, too. The bigger figure has a sense of style about it that you usually don’t get in a Spider-Man collectible, but it’s the Peter Parker that really sells this set. There’s a great amount of detail in the costuming of this kid, but there’s also all those nifty lenses and camera accessories. It’s the little things like that which make ThreeA’s version of this icon so focused and believable.

I like Peter Park's black cargo sweatpants. Would like for those to show up on other 3A figures.

Ha! I'm hoping SS has it so I can use points on it.
Will the Spiderbot be sold separately?

Would love to see it next to the other Marvel characters and even Batman.

Yeah the only place I see the classic Spidey is BBTS and being from Canada I cant and wont buy anything from that site. They over charge for shipping and then they declare full value for customs and on top of that they broker the shipment so you end up paying out the ass for things. It's like paying a shipping cost twice.

Sucks cuz I was looking forward to classic version of Spidey. And now I can't even buy him.

I buy very rarely from BBTS and have gotten stuff from 3A that shipped the same time as a BBTS order and gotten 3A not only first, but several days before. How my neighbor gets packages slower to me than the other side of the planet? I do not know. Also as a Canadian, losing the 3AA discount and free shipping doesn't entice me to support this line. Although Stealth does look good, I really really have to think about it.

Really? I'm in Australia and BBTS is my toy buying site of choice. I dig the Pile Of Loot feature and reasonable-ish shipping price, and stuff always turns up promptly in my experience.

PiggyV01, I contacted https://www.popcultcha.com.au/ today and they said they are going to put Classic Spidey up sometime in the next 24hrs. Their prices are pretty good and free shipping within Australia for orders over $100. I think they are based in Melbourne.

Grish, where are you located in Canada?

I would suggest hitting up your local comic store or toy shop and ask them to do a special order thru Diamond (If you are in Toronto: Silversnail, Mindzai, Magic Pony). That is what I did with the Strigoi – Security Red. I'm still on the fence about which Spidey to get, but the Classic is definitely more appealing. Good luck!

Not much chat about Spider-Man. Anyone buying this set? Wish the price was just a little lower. Wish this had payment plan like the Hunter. Anything over $300 would be cool to have payment option in my opinion.

Fuck. I am still debating if I want to drop coin on this figure. Anyone else in the same boat. Anyone actually see one in person? Just wondering what your thoughts are. It's a lot of money. Wish we had a video review showing it off before buying. Anyone have anything to share?

I still kinda want to get the Stealth version because I can't justify the bs behind the classic, but also because the bs with classic it makes me not want to buy the stealth either. Seriously. Any non-Americans get screwed with the classics version. The set does not look like 600.00 cad set (335usd + probably 40usd shipping with high exchange and probably another 50cad customs)
Bad taste in my mouth on this one.

Is the low torso section a totally much darker blue/red combo?

I held off last year. I couldn't hold off this year. Passing on Prime as landed both versions of TK Hunyers. 2017 is going to hurt but must resist on Other items this year. Have iron man, now Spider-Man and want captain America and hulk a long ways out to make ultron set. Not a fan of those for some reason. Maybe it's his golden hair and beauty pageant feel.
