This Limited Edition Super Set of Paul Pope’s classic cult comic book series THB includes scrappy heroine HR Watson and her H20 activated rubbery bodyguard Tri-Hydro Bi-Oxygenate a.k.a. THB! Every last detail from HR’s anti-gravity Magnetic Vest, to her GoGoNam Fan Club ring, to THB’s hand sculpted body have all been faithfully recreated with development personally overseen by Pope himself.

Included in the Super Set is a remastered printing of the long out-of-print comic “Point-Flatter-Cut” originally published in THB:M3 by Paul Pope. This new printing features all new cover art, pin-up gallery, and is printed in deluxe size formatting!

gotta be brutally honest but for the sake of the pope collab continuing i REALLY wish threeA went with Supermek first, i bet that would sell extremely well even to those not familiar with comic or pope etc seems obvious.

The reprint will be cool as Pope plans on rescanning the original art and going from there. Plus it's oversized and he's going to toss a lot of fun bonus stuff in it.

And that would probably have been an instant death sentence. Invisible Mek is fucking cool, there's no denying that, but it is an unknown creation, no back story, no comics that've publicly been presented, no info other than some art not many have seen and a couple appearances of the prototype at some cons. There's no real built in wider audience. Just hoping enough toy collectors go "cool" and will spend $200+ on it can sink a line before it starts.  

Put it this way, by debuting with the THB Set, we're starting with Pope's two most iconic original characters. THB already has a large collector base to pull from between art collectors, comic collectors, general Paul Pope collectors, and toy/vinyl collectors that picked up the old KR collabs. If we sell out of this limited set, then that's a good sign the support and audience are there.

The really brutal side comes down to manufacturing and risk – the Invisible Mek, because it requires new body and tooling needs to sell roughly 4x to 5x as many as the THB Set to break even. The whole upper torso/arms and the two heads it comes with are entirely new. We're talking numbers that need to hit a couple thousand sold just to break even. To Kim and Ash who are putting their money on the line paying for all this, that's a big risk if you don't know the size of the audience you're working with. For them and for Pope, they need to know the support is there and going with THB and HR first makes more sense as it's still a big risk, but the chances of success are greater.

ahhh thks gregory really appreciate the behind the scenes process info, hoping this does well for all involved. Was not aware of these being Popes most well known characters.

im generally surprised by how many collectors just buy based on sumthin looking cool oppose to the others like myself where it all rides on the characters and story the piece represents. i think buyin cuz it looks cool is way more dominant and honestly in my opinion played/plays a huge role in the success of threeA in particular.

THB is something I've wanted to happen since 3A first announced they were going to do licensed lines, so to actually make it happen has been a total dream come true. THB was always first pick and I think 3A is the only company that could do his designs justice.

I think Pope's most well known work is going to be Batman Year 100, and more currently with his creator owned lines people would say it's Battling Boy because of the scholastic distribution and heavy press from the publisher, but that license wasn't available a few years ago when we all first started talking about toys.

THB is his self published series, kinda like Popbot where an issue will debut when it debuts. Runs on its own time. If you're collecting those individual comics you're gonna spend $200-$300 easily. For the set to include a reprint of any of the books is really special.

Not pre-made. The pre-order will be open for 8weeks. It will be a low run set, which is why it is a limited edition.

So what happened?

Sales totals from Bamba and Retail did not hit the breakeven point and all parties agreed it would be better to cancel and try again another time later on rather than take on the financial loss

Is anyone else who paid for the set via PayPal getting their "Refund" sent as a "Payment"?
The difference, as far as I can see, is that a Refund ordinarily will go directly back on my card, whereas a Payment will mean I have to give money to PayPal to get my refund...
