Really? I'm disappointed with the bottom part being 100% identical.

Re: WBR SATURN
Given the price these sell for... absolutely! I can only speculate that 3A has to make as much use of the molds they created to get Mars made, or they'll potentially loose money on the line. Right now, it seems to have near zero support as it is. Not surprising as it's a new line with almost nil backstory. What it has going for it is nostalgia and standing on the shoulders of literal giants that came before.
Go back and look at those old Shogun Warriors toys. Play spot-the-parts shared across the line. Legs, arms, etc. Resculpted bits here and there. Some simply different paints, or even just stickers.
The re-use of parts here is no different than any number of toy companies that produce figures. Hell, almost all human figures share 80% of the same parts, it's just clothing that covers most of it.
Given what the costs are up front to sculpt, prototype and then create the molds to cast the parts in, at this scale... I would be shocked if Mars & Co. sold more than a few hundred at best. And with the cost of shipping that was figured into them (gotta be close to 1/3-1/2 the price of the 3AA cost of the figure given it's size), I'd totally believe 3A lost money on the first go round.
If it means we see a few recycled parts, which is in keeping with the whole less is more (and cheaper) aesthetic of 3AGO. Plus helps get the line off the ground, and gets us more variations than just another paintjob (like half the TKs out there), I am good with that. I'm personally relieved that we got as much resculpting as we did. I was worried we would see less.
I'm happy to have a 2 ft tall robot line that doesn't cost $300-400 a pop. Which is what I suspect would be necessary to keep the line viable if it was total ground up retooling for every release. I'm hoping with a bit of support, and interest, they'll keep it going, keep the costs down, and other more distinct releases will come down the pike as it goes along. I REALLY want to see some kind of fist launcher. Finger's crossed.
Plus I'm more apt to play around with something in the sub-$200 range (thanks to 3AA discount) than I am to touch a $300-500 Rex or Transformer with all it's delicate parts, etc. That's why these seem so fun to me. Reminds me why I got back into toys in the first place. Not everyone will have the same reaction to this line as I have, but for me? Yeah, really. I see potential and I want to see more!

I'm not in this line for the nostalgia, on this scale reusing such a specific design element has way more impact then reusing clothing, hands or feet on a 12" figure. If just the bottom feet would've been different it would've made a huge difference. Still disappointed :-(

Totally fair. We all get in for different reasons. Part of the fun and differences in taste. I'm curious to see the top part especially, because what I'm seeing in that blurriness looks kinda cool.
Also, want 1-eyed kraken!

Re: WBR SATURN
Could be! I hadn't seen it that way, but you might be right. I was wondering if rather than being solid up top, if it had tall metal "collar" around a central head, a little bit like the heavy Dropcloth, but maybe a smaller domed Ankou-like head?

Well Ash send on many time MARS is supposed to be tallest one, and the other would be much smaller.
Could be different now for a recycle purpose.
At best the same size with 60- 70% recyclade.
But I will still believe he will be smaller by 3 or 4 inch

What Ash says, and what Ash does, are two completely different things (not trying to be sarcastic). Things have, and will be, changed, cancelled, postponed, redesigned, renamed, forgotten, reinvented, rediscovered...
Originally WBR was supposed to be 1/12 scale (Q&A, #16 12.01.2014). Now it's 1/8.
Just look at the images. Either Saturn IS taller (by circa 3"), or every part is scaled down, with nothing recycled. And if they are not recycled, there are no cost savings, and the next release is just as expensive as Mars to produce. New moulds for every single part... very expensive, bit smaller robot, in different scale...
Re: WBR SATURN
Intrigued by Saturn and how this is all coming together. For some reason I keep thinking there is a 3rd robot in the mix..like a team of three..did I make that up?

It does look like the retro themed powerful robot with a modern twist it is supposed to be. But it would have been a lot better with hands.

Re: WBR SATURN
Kinda speechless.
Mars and friends are clearly inspired by the classic 70s super robot Shogun warriors genre. And they look great.
This... I dunno.
Like someone said earlier. It really looks like someone took a bunch of parts from an extra parts bin and just stuck them on.
Don't get this one at all.
It looks like it's from a different series, like something from a 1940s Sci fi genre movie like sky captain and the world of tomorrow..
Very retro art deco.
