STARLING Series
Starling Book 1: Ashley Wood
Hardcover
Remember Sparrow? The art-book series pioneered by Ashley Wood and featuring some of the most acclaimed painters and artists in the world and printed on an amazing paper stock? Yep, this is like that, only this series is even larger in size and features all-new pieces from, again, some of the best artists in existence. Up first, the series' creator, Ashley Wood!

Re: STARLING Series
I got an email last night letting me know my copy is supposed to arrive by the end of the month.
Amazon also has it listed as in stock on the 25th. Yay!
And I can't wait to see what artists get books in the series next.
I'd be happy with one of the usuals (Kent Williams, Phil Hale, etc) but I might be even more excited by someone "new", either unknown or just never had the AW/IDW art book treatment before.
I'd be thrilled to see Wendling, Pratt, Muth, Mu Pan, JungGi, etc. Or even maybe a book featuring a fine art folks like Sean Cheetham, Yuichi Ikehata or even more of a lowbrow one with a pretty sizable following like Scott Radke. Really push the series out there to folks that deserve a platform. I could go on and on.

Re: STARLING Series
Ash has a ton of art books out there. A fair bit of overlap, but some astounding unique work as well. Good luck on that hunt. Also when Ash makes comics, they are some of the best drawn sequential art out there. I dearly wish he did more, and with any kind of consistency so we could enjoy them.
One suggestion... keep an eye out for a copy of the Miss + Mrs book. It's so lovely, and the strip format was great. I'd love it if we could get more than 1 or 2... of just about anything.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your tip, ESeffinga!
Anything Nabler sounds very interesting to me. I never saw that one for sale, though...
Having 'discovered' Ashley Wood only a little bit more than a year ago, I still have to ballance my funds between books, old figures and new drops at Bambaland. Finding and hunting down stuff I like is really what I enjoy most, so that's all fun. I just have to keep in mind that I will never be able to own all I might want and consequently focus on what I like best. Books (anything printed) will certainly be a big part of that.
My order of Starling has been screwed up with, but should be on it's way now. So I am still waiting here...

Nice book! I found a copy at a local comic book store today. I think there are different postcards that come with each copy. I dont recall mine looking like fluppeco's card. I'll have to check later

Re: STARLING Series
Picked up a copy on Tuesday from my local comic shop. Gorgeous little book. And yeah the postcards are randomly packed it seems - Mine is a girl patting a bot on the head and saying "I love you robot", will post a pic of it when I get home.
Re: STARLING Series
Awesome news. Next is Wray and then some french chap. Perhaps J.S. Rossbach?

Re: STARLING Series
I'm always interested to see what Bill puts together, but more excited and curious about some new blood. Wondering who the "french chap" will be. The art books have gone back to exciting me much more than most of the toys again, and AW & IDW can make a mean art book. Gorgeous quality product.

Re: STARLING Series
Got a TK postard. Not a fan of it, there are so many beautiful TK paintings / drawings, and this is not one of Ash's best. Would have liked a girl painting instead.
The book is nice. Mostly newer pieces, a few repeats from Mook, Machine Sabbath, Kuntsler, and the new WWR book... overall a good mix, especially as an introduction to Ash's most current work... The newer pieces like the feet and Barbarella make it worth it!
Just wish it had a bit more pages. A few pieces are double page: full piece on one page, detail on the other. I like this as it shows Ash's beautiful brush work.., but i would have gladly paid an extra $5 for 20 more pages.
That painting with the robot fighting the Zomb, beautiful! would love to have that painting in a larger size, a poster maybe someday? Calendar?
I LOVE the foot paintings
