Good 40+ year old quote from a real genius, but doesn't hold true in this scenario.

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
Well at least I have a shot at the Con Andy. Will these be up at some time during the weekend od SDCC ?
Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
I've no idea.
In 2015 we had the great post SDCC sale on Bambaland a couple of days after SDCC.
Preorders of the same and slightly different releases of the SDCC premade releases.
Kuma Eddy Preorder was for sale 2 days after SDCC2015.
In 2014 we had a SDCC Bambaland sale a day before SDCC started with numerous preorders.
No premade SDCC exclusive releases though.
2013 had a black preorder variant of a SDCC exclusive WoIP Pascha F.M.I.S CMD Edition.
The Adventure Kartel Medic Zomb saw a Bambaland non-Medic variant in the AKlub Dead Easy Corp Set.
No premade SDCC exclusive releases.
So as far as I know premade drops looks to be something new for SCCC.
In the past couple of years other shows in Asia had premade show exclusives and preorders or variants of those premade releases on Bambaland around the same time,
or spread out over the months following those shows.

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
We put our dollars down on the Bamba PO near on 7 months ago and now people at SDCC are getting it before us!!? An explanation from someone would be good! Everyone who PO from Bamba should at least have the glasses from the SDCC version thrown in for the inconvenience... Come on 3A, I think we deserve it??

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
This isn't anything new unfortunately. Con exclusives are usually a stim for emo. I remember Strigoi pretty well. Much longer wait though. threeA is just trying to please everyone, so i can imagine it being hard to offer exclusives without blocking up the hatchery. I only hope this doesn't jam up the production line on the bamba Andy.

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
Very true, con exclusives ARE a stim for emo.
That said, this particular scenario ratchets up the (well-deserved) emo because 3A is issuing a more complete version of something that was already sold to Legionnaires 7 months ago, which they are still waiting for.
I avoided saying it is a "better" version as "better" is subjective, but you can't argue that the SDCC Andy is the same thing offered 7 mos ago, but with more stuff. I don't think I'm out on a limb here when I say most customers would prefer to have the more complete version, rather than one with less.
Good call to bring up Strigoi - and surprising 3A seems to have forgotten. Same scenario, with an even longer wait, without taking care of loyal, first to buy customers and similar, perfectly reasonable complaints.
When 3A does stuff like this, common sense doesn't seem to weigh in, and I guess history isn't considered either. That this keeps happening is straight up SNAFU.
I keep wanting & trying to like this company. Why do they make it so easy to dislike them?

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
Anyway:
I don't see any progress in this discussion about what threeA should or shouldn't do and it derails this thread too much from the actual topic: Andy.
So all comments which are about the way threeA sells its toys or what it should do instead of what it does will be considered as off topic and removed.

Has anyone ever seen the actual works of andy. I am very curious as to what makes Ash decided to do his figure. If anyone have some intriguing story about him do post it so that the figure may bring a deeper meaning when it is on hand.

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
^Agree.
Being a fan of the real man Andy I prefer the SDCC figure, but I also like the fact that I thought in the Ash story it wasn't the real Andy which make me like the original figure more (being more of an homage), but it's all personal preference I guess.
I know nothing about the Popbot Andy, so I guess I should do some research. Nah, I'm too lazy, can anyone comment on his backstory here?

I don't think we've seen any back story, just a Warhol trib like the Steve Jobs 'bot or the earlier Andy Squares.
Still waiting for CS to reply (which is not a comment about what threeA should or shouldn't do). Not like them.

Andy Mk2 square and Mighty Squaro were tributes to the Andy Warhol Campbell's soup piece, Ash is a big fan of Andy.
Andy Mk2 also came with a print signed by Ash which was pretty damn cool.

Didn't the MK1 come with a print, too? Early SDCC exclusive from Toy Tokyo?

Lazy me: "The Andy Warhol Clones are characters in the Popbot comics who host the German television show "The Gee Bob Show.'"
From 3A wiki
Have they appeared in the comics? It's been so long since a new PB installment I've forgotten.

And first Warhol Square is actually called Squaro Square², more commonly referred to as Brillo Square. It did come with a print, confirmed by Wiki. As an SDCC attendee that year I can say with authority that Toy Tokyo didn't favor sales to exhibitors - as the Wiki says some have accused them of. TT did a lottery that anyone could enter. Way more fair than the line system, which is usually full of exhibitors with both badges.

I have the Mighty & Mk2 but totally forgot about the Mk1 (maybe I deliberately deleted it from my mind) thanks for the reminder but doubt I'll ever get one at this stage.

Yes, the Andy clones are in several issues of Popbot, they host a TV show and interview other characters on the show that are out to kill Kitty

If your lucky buy the pop bot Big beautiful book. It has it all in there. Andy actually ends the book with a bang. Pretty fucking dope!
Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
Kept buying new iterations of the collected Popbot, but stopped, assuming once story was done there'd be a huge collection. Maybe I killed it.

Re: Andy - December 22nd at Bamba
Heh I think running ThreeA killed any progression on the issues. Ash swears Popbot 9 is going to happen
He says it's going to take him 18 issues to complete the story. Might be in for a long wait
