Re: Emerald City Comic Con
Anyone have a Sunday ticket they can spare? I didn't give much thought to attending this year but it looks like I may be able to go. I wasn't expecting them to not sell tickets at the door, local shops, or have a will-call. And my buddy in the area is only going Sunday, so I'm trying to go with him.

Alright, time to get planning.
Friday - Attend ECCC, hand out flyers for the Comic Show. Get to Roq la Rue at around 5PM. Show opening from 6-9PM.
Saturday - Not sure, maybe just hang at the gallery? Dinner at Bamboo Gardens @ 6 or 7PM? Whatever works best for people.
Sunday - Roq la Rue is typically closed, but I'll be there all day.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the con this year. As SDCC gets harder and harder to get into, it seems to have the knock-on effect of making each of the other regional shows bigger and bigger. Curious as to how your experiences have changed over the years.

Re: Emerald City Comic Con
A few years ago, ECCC was super easy to get into. We would roll up on Friday, purchase tickets day of, and stroll the floor without issue.
Now, it's sold out months in advance and the crowds keep getting bigger. But it's still a great Con. The size of the Convention Center where it's held is both a blessing and a curse. It's just not that big. The whole floor could probably fit in the corner of where SDCC is held. So while the growing crowds make it hard to get around easily, it doesn't take that much time to get from one end to the other. Midday during SDCC and you're looking at a 20 minute walk from one end to the other, not so here. But the best thing about the small size? No giant entertainment installations. ECCC is still a comic based con. Sure they have celebs for photo ops and what not, but no huge movie studio bullshit taking up half the floor.
This year the Con was run by ReedPOP, which also runs NYCC. I felt they did a good job. Tickets were noticeably more expensive, but the staff was friendly and knew the layout for giving directions. They also made it a point to promote a safe environment for the cosplayers, with a lot of signage prohibiting harassment which was nice to see.
I was happy to see ThreeA have a presence at this show. A very teeny tiny presence, but at least it made the radar. IDW had a booth again, and Ryall even showed up, so hopefully in the near future ThreeA will get a booth. I think they are on a waiting list or something for SDCC, so why not get into ECCC and make it totally awesome? We could always do a Legion booth like they have done in NYCC....hmmmmm
Next year should be interesting as the Con moves to a 4-day event. This year they had 80,000 attendees, and I expect 100,000 for 2016.

Looks like ThreeA might be getting a booth at ECCC next year, according to a comment Ash made on his instagram. Hopefully Ash can make it too.

Re: Emerald City Comic Con
ECCC sent out emails with a survey link. If you have the time fill it out and mention that it would be cool if toy companies had a greater presence at the con. Mainly ThreeA.

Re: Emerald City Comic Con
Being my first convention, I was quite impressed and had a great time. It's not really my thing as I'm more of a toy and movie guy, but hooking up with some friends there to show me around was a big help to get a lay of the land. I said I wouldn't go back next year, but seeing so many friends and having a great time, I might go back in Cosplay attire. If there's a 3A booth I would hopefully dress up as AK JC.....maybe.....

Re: Emerald City Comic Con
Just got a survey to fill out for the 2016 ECCC, which is April 7-10 2016. One of the sections was "Things we are thinking of bringing to ECCC and how interested are you in them". The last one was "inviting designer toy companies to the con". Heck yeah! I have been asking them to include toys for a couple years now when they send surveys. This is the first year it has ever been mentioned. Fingers crossed!

See my comment above. "I'm more of a toy and movie guy".
Maybe I would go back if there were more toys? I feel like I'm moving away from toys though.

My suggestion would be to make the tickets more accessible. I was blown away at how they handled ticket sales.

Yeah. They took all the local comic shops out of ticket sales. Was easier previous years.

Comic shops were removed and will call was removed (unless you were out of country).

Re: Emerald City Comic Con
The last convention didn't sit well with me. I don't know if I'll be going back. And I don't know if it really plays a part in conventions but the ones put on by actual shops and not convention companies just seem better.

Think I will get a Friday one day pass. Though the Thursday $20 pass might be better. Could work a half day then hit the con.
