ThreeA Open days HK 15-17 December 2017

First of all, please excuse my english...

I am surprised that on this forum, no one is talking about the sale just being held in Hong Kong for the move of the ThreeA offices.

Once again, and this will be the last one for me, who has been following 3A for many years, the brand's leaders have shown great disregard for the fans.

Sell to a circle of industry residents, at a bargain price, many pieces, including the so-called limited exclusivity, that each fan would like to purchase. And do not even propose a sale Bamba (even if you have to pay the shipping costs on) to the many fans who would have liked to enjoy it.

Understand that with this kind of process, I no longer wish to participate in the adventure ThreeA. So, of course, no renewal of membership and good luck .....

Thanks Rick, message received and understood. Very bad form by ThreeA but then again I can't say I'm surprised. ThreeA needed the fans/legionaires to get them where they are right now and now that they are where they are we are seen as an inconvenience. The first signs were when Ash left these forums, then there are the lack of 3aa exclusives, once upon a time almost every release got a 3aa and now it's very few if any. This sale is another kick in the nuts (not that anyone here cares).
Rant over, feel free to add/correct/whatever.

Does anyone remember when ThreeA tried to host a warehouse sale on Bamba? It killed the website for some time and no one really got anything anyway.

At least we had a shot??? I didn't get anything but I know people who did. This is compete bollox, I pay to be 3aa and don't go telling me it's worth it for the discount, I don't spend enough to justify that. I'm in this because I love 3a but for a long time now it's been a one way street. I don't ask for or expect much but surely there was a fairer way than simply offering warehouse stuff to some random stranger who happens to live in Hong Kong! Even a lottery would have been fairer, I don't think we're asking too much here other than a fair chance. What is 3aa actually good for now anyway, discount and exclusives are not an issue so what is???
Sorry if I'm off on a rant here but surely I'm not the only one who feels this way?

This sale was organized and advertised by the HK office without Ash's involvement. The office is moving locations after 10+ years in the Jone Mult Ind Building and the staff have spent the last week clearing out the warehouse for the move.

The stock of items sold are from what is held back for repairs/replacements, or from cancellations, or from Kim's personal archive. Similar to the stock of what is sent to SDCC or any another convention we do – there's only ever one or two of each item available. At most there might be up to five if it's a recent release.

In regards to limited items, say an edition of 20 is made. Ash keeps one, Kim keeps one, HK keeps two to three for reserve stock for repair/replacements, and the rest go to sale on Bambaland. The prototype used for the ads is either kept in HK for archives or sent to Ash for his archives. HK will not sell this reserve stock unless Kim gives the OK to do so.

Thanks Gregory for your explanation, it certainly helps but doesn't lessen the blow. At the end of the day it's very unfair to those who have supported this company from the start. I've been 3aa since 2012 and there are a lot of others longer than that. I'm not claiming some entitlement but just a little something to say thanks to all the worldwide legionnaires and not just those who live in Hong Kong timezone or in this case happen to be strolling down the right street at the right time.

I think a "thank you" by way of a Bambaland sale of these items would have been received with the same kind of "outrage" as this warehouse sale of last weekend.
And maybe even worse.

If threeA would have tried to sell it on Bambaland people still would have been mad:
a. Because it sold out.
b. Because only 1 - 5 items were available
c. Because it was offered in the middle of the night, somewhere. / or not during lunchbreak. / or whatever wrong time.
d. Because after 24 hours of F5 / Cmnd+R. the sought after item didn't show up.
e. Because prices were adjusted with 2017 shipping costs and added taxes.
f. Because Bambaland crumbled under the ddos attack of people eagerly hoping to score.
g. etc.

Personally, to me, it is way more frustrating to miss out on something I might have a shot at (via Bambaland) than something I simple couldn't have,
because it's geographically out of reach, like Show exclusives or a brick and mortar warehouse sale in Hong Kong.
Makes live so much easier.

All good points Gar. At the end of the day I know I wouldn't have gotten anything myself either way. It just seems a bit unfair and maybe could have been handled better. It gets very frustrating trying to track down older items and then hearing they have them in sale at cons or other places like this.
Anyway I'm still here for now.

WE ALL WANT EVERYTHING!!!  But realistically our own personal expectations of how things should go are never going to be met.  Let's just all accept that the chase is what will keep you going until you get TIRED OF THIS SHIT and say THAT'S IT I'M DONE!  IT'S OVER!

Why am I angry?  

I've lost count of the times I've said "bullshit! That's it I'm done!" but I'm still here looking at 3aa 2018. Some things never change no matter the geography it seems.

Now how do I get my hands on a HK mule....

I wish we had some kind of foreign exchange app where we could easily call upon our Legion brothers/sisters to mule for us, but Alas!  flipping is king.

Sometimes its like trying to score with a Hot chick, Many will try but few will succeed. Someday we will all get laid boys, it might not be the hottest chick in the world but it will still feel pretty dang good anyways.

Enough of my analogies. Just good to laugh once in a while and know that future drops will be cool in 2018. So get your lucky hands at the ready:)

Gar nailed it. People would be more upset over some online drop with 1 or 2 of an item. It's way worse to be teased with a carrot that can't be reached.

If ThreeA never did the dead stock sales at conventions, that'd be one thing. But they do. And they do it wherever they have a good presence.

wow, the comment section on the legion fb page is full of forced drama... toys and the social media kindergarden...

An idea for the future might be to put a notice in these boards in the relevant sub category and say ‘first to message public ally here here gets first shot’. Like if it is only 2 Thargs or 1 limited TK set that would be transparent, encourage use of the forums / legion and not be a hassle admin wise.

So... move go okay?
