Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
Had a real nice chill time at SDCC this year. 3A had it's small but mighty booth and I think there was plenty of traffic in and out of little 734.
Seeing the Destiny Warlocks up close and personal, as well as that G1 Prime proto... pics can only do so much for them, in person they are just beauties.
I missed Ash's availability as I was running back and forth. An old friend of ours had an Artist booth there so it was slick to see him doing his thing. Good times.
Expect a big pic dump this weekend/possibly later tonight.

Threezero did a show in Tokyo recently. They showed off the near complete Caiman fig and some Zoids and existing lineup

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
I'll post up some more from the general exhibit floor roaming but here are the booth snaps I have.
SOOOoo,... these fun little Cons always start with this scene:
This is arriving at the back of the line for general admission at 5:30am.
We end up parking at Qualcomm stadium and taking the first trolley in which picks up there at just before 5am. I don't know what was up with the lines for general/exhibit hall this year. I've never been lined up waaaay around and behind the convention center over by the boats. We would then get calls from people who showed up like an hour later than us who were already inside about 30min before we got in. Something was definitely off, but it all worked out. Just weird as previous years had no issues...
So,... after all that,.... Exhibit Hall opens at 9:00-9:30am(you never know when exactly you'll get let in) and it was a healthy speed walk to our Legion outpost:

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
Place is dead yo.
Yep,.. me and my wife grabbed 4day passes + preview for the first time in years.
Again, it takes a collective of 6 people for you to land anything beyond a Thurs and/or Sunday badge. My PC had never even made it into waiting room before the whole thing sold out.
Either way,...jumping into the mess again in July. US Venture too, couldn't resist.
I'll bring the #beer3A in a cooler,...

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
I got in when everything was still available, no group used. Only opted for Thur, Fri, Sat this year for the wife and I. Preview & Sunday are just wasted days for us and I always regret paying for them. Got a super cheap Airbnb 15-20 minutes out for $39 a night (after paying 2K at The Omni last year I vowed never again) and we'll either drive or trolley in each day. 3AVenture on top is going to make it extra special. SDCC on a budget is our theme this year, biggest expense will be Venture stuffs. Driving in from Phoenix Wednesday and back Sunday.
Oh and we don't drink so #nobeer3A for us, more like #clubsoda3A

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
We used AirBnB last year for an LA trip and got hosed at the last minute. A little gun-shy to use it again.

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
Good deal using Air BnB, hopefully any issues is more owner specific than something within the brand. I've never used it yet but we're hoping to in the winter for some cabin time.
Depending on how Venture runs, preview night may be a waste for us. Sunday is for other friends. Doing SDCC on the cheap is the best approach to have.
Holy F on that Omni bill - but at least you have the first hand perspective on it now.
I've got some pretty tasty sub 5% ales,... so maybe #babybeer3A for you guys? ;-) All good, all good.
Vegan root beer? Opposed to the meat-filled root beers?
We have a brewery in town that always stamps their cans with: "This beer is vegan" ha

I've used Airbnb a dozen times in many different countries, and never had an issue, so I'd wager it was a unique case.Wooly wrote:Good deal using Air BnB, hopefully any issues is more owner specific than something within the brand. Yep! I'm sure Robbie is more educated on it than I am, but many mass-produce carbonated beverages use artificial sweeteners and other sugars that are whitened and ground with animal bone.
You may be surprised at the amount of food items that include animal lard and bone marrow as an unlikely ingredient.
Often when you see "artificial flavors" and "natural flavors," it's usually the weird shit they don't want to actually list in the ingredients that come from questionable origin that may not be popular to consumers.

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
Dang,.. Right, I should've suspected as much. Nasty business.
That's the great thing about beer, 3-4 ingredients at most in 90% of your brews... but you want to still buy from quality brewers for the same reason you mention above when it comes to mass produced crap.
So Cody, what I got from your message up above is simply this:
- You're helping to coordinate a Legion shirt for ComicCon this year.
Hopefully I read all that right.
Does anyone else remember how awesome those Brillo SDCC shirts were??

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
I don't drink beer, but some are not vegan, or even vegetarian. Just before bottling, beer is often filtered using animal products such as isinglass (fish bladder) or gelatin.
A lot of root beers have honey.
We ended up booking a nice AirBnB for San Diego, as well as the hotel. We can cancel the hotel without a penalty if the AirBnB doesn't cancel on us like they did last time.

Hey Wooly, shoot me a private message with the logistics on your end and lets see what we can do.
Man, as obvious as it is, it always slips my mind that honey is non-vegan.x43x wrote:A lot of root beers have honey.
(just because my own dietary focus is on the most natural/purely sourced foods, which most usually just so happens to result in also primarily vegan foods)
Awesome! I hope you have a better experience with Aribnb this year.x43x wrote:We ended up booking a nice AirBnB for San Diego, as well as the hotel. We can cancel the hotel without a penalty if the AirBnB doesn't cancel on us like they did last time.

Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
Our AirBnB cancelled our reservation. Fucker. That's two for two getting hosed. Probably just stick with our hotel reservation and call it good.
Re: SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2016
nice D! i reserved a spot at a hostel. Not too fond of it, but at $69 for a night, staying for one night (Fri/Sat), plus close to gaslamp district, why not?dtrain wrote:I got in when everything was still available, no group used.
