Long term collection management
Right now I have about 3 closets full of cartons. Some large, medium and then the ladies shoe box size most normal 1/6 figures come in. Largest boxes are metal gear Rex, ray and TK Hunters and Heavy Brambles.
I like the boxes sometimes dealing with them feels a little tedious.
Has anyone here knowing they don’t intend to sell, ever ditched the boxes and just used large crates filled with bubble wrapped individuals pieces? Seems like a crate stacked with heaviest pieces on the bottom everything bundled in wrap would be safe like this as the stuff really isn’t as heavy as the boxes are bulky.
What do you do?

Re: Long term collection management
Living the small apartment life, I gotta ditch the boxes for any figures I'm 100% keeping and have no intention of ever getting rid of. I rotate the collection around and wrap the figures in bubblewrap and place in bins, which take up most of my closet space
I also have a storage unit I keep the really bulky boxes in

Okay glad to hear that’s a good solution. I may go that route. Seems easier to organize by colorway and less room.

I ditch all the boxes, no room. No room for anything! My closest is like tetris for all my hot toys star wars boxes, some threea ones. But when you have like 200 figures and things, cant keep all the boxes...

Do you use bins and bubble wrap blankets on each fig for moving snd storage?
I have my classic video game carts in similar 72 gal bins.
The thought of ditching the boxes is kinda getting me excited.
Cthulhu- you can't see it well but I have a giant Cthulhu kaiju on my top shelf next to the TK Hunter Vali.

I wish I had the strength to ditch the boxes. To me they are also collecters items. At least with ThreeA for that stunning artwork!

I agree the boxes are lovely.
I do think that the pieces have a higher chance of being damaged by the plastic shells boxes etc than if I kept them stored in bubble wrap blankets stacked in bins.

Re: Long term collection management
In our condo, every nook and cranny was filled with boxes. Now that we have a house, its down to one closet and a large garage rack. They are pretty cheap and I could use another one...
Re: Long term collection management
You guys ever had pieces damaged by storage in original cartons? Like paint rubbed off noses by the plastic shell etc? Strigoi specifically seem sensitive to it.
My OG DropCloth Squad for example feels really tight in their small little boxes. DropCloth 1.5U has a more cozy box.

No storage bins here, everything is on a shelf or on display somewhere in the house. If I'm bored with it I sell it, but I havent sold anything in a while... only boxes I have are for hot toys, 7bones and all my emgy collection.
