He was going to do Adventure Kartel . . . He posts here and on deviantart, but I haven't heard anything of it in a while which is a shame. I think it would be great.

It was too good to be true. There's so much that could be done with AK, so many stories . . . The 10 Finger Gang, Rehel's band, the DAG,Little Shadow being Little Shadow. Everything.

Ashley would direct the overall scheme and ideas, but more or less just let Brizl draw and draw, following wherever these ideas take him. I'd buy every issue of that. Maybe two.

Anyway, not for nothing, but one of the ads at the top of the page is showing a telecaster and describing it as Surf Green when it's clearly Daphne Blue. C'mon Reverb, get your stuff together . . .   Evil or Very Mad

That's it in a nutshell... And (sorry folks it's not just Popbot) ThreeA's designs have gotten pretty lazy & not fresh at all. The character in the sculpts is as dead as are the ideas. It's a ghost.

One or two things come along but those are few and far between.

Ash design is not lazy, it's his typical to create something similar with his previous design, every artist have their unique characteristics, you see Sven & Mark (coarse), Amanda Visell etc, they will create somethin similar, because it's their passion,

it's just us who wants something new, and in the market nowadays, several new company / brand offer us "that refresh designs", example deviltoys, b13p, ax2, etc, but you can't deny that their typical design are close to 3A, and... that we can't deny that 3A has been pioneer for something like this.

Was a pioneer. Everything fades. It has it's time. ThreeA's time has mostly past. Not dead. A ghost. Still haunting with a few bumps in the night, but mostly just creaking around.

And this is just my opinion based on the fact that I've collected since the first Original TKs. And really nothing lately, except the Mortis Mobile Infantry Dresden Frau V.1 (say that three times fast), has interested me. Sorry. We all don't love shit just 'cause we're told to or because you do.

In my case I was into WWR but by being into 3a got sucked into everything else and ended up with TKs, Popbot & AK stuff in all scales but now I find myself reverting back to just 1/6 WWR and dropping the other lines (still keeping my stuff though) but maybe others are the same? Still keeping my fingers in all the pies just not buying as much as I used to.

Skipper11x pretty much summed it up for me, too.  Started with WWRp, moved into WWR and Popbot (mostly TK's), but have found most of the products lacking over the last couple of years.  Every once in a long while something excites me (Mortis Dresden Frau, upcoming Winston Bertie & tracked Square), but with prices on the rise, I find myself being pushed away.  I still have many. many pieces from the early years that remain dear to me, but I'd guess I'm only a couple of figures away from being done with ThreeA altogether.

Me neither:
Mostly because of 4 things:
- Most importantly: an almost 25% more expensive US$
- Severe lack of shelf space
- (Trying to) focus on just a couple of universes.
- And we haven't seen that many 1/6 WWR and AK (0) Bambaland releases. Even the first Tomorrow King of 2016 took almost 6 months to drop.

That's pretty much my situation as well. There's too much competition for good figures now than there was 6 years ago when I first joined 3A. Without WWR ThreeA holds little draw for me, especially when other companies like 1000Toys are creating figures that belong to specific worlds that become more fleshed out the more figures you collect. A bunch of disjointed one-offs don't make for a showcase as interesting as one with figures that all share congruent designs and sensibilities.

Basically, 3A has become vastly unfocused in recent years. The golden age of ThreeA that existed 6 years ago was a time when all of the effort was pumped into 3 very strong and distinct universes (WWR, AK, Popbot). Now production is spread out over 9-10 lines, with 3 different scales to boot. There have been well over 30 licenses picked up by ThreeA, seriously, go count them.

The waters have become so damn muddy that it's hard to be a fan of any of the lines. How about that Killzone figure? Yeah, great job supporting that line guys - Oh, you thought there would be more? Tough shit. Every time I see a new WWR figure on the blog it's in the wrong damn scale! Seriously, does ThreeA honestly think that WWRp figures are going to sate WWR collectors? Well they don't. Why would I want a dinky 6-inch version of a giant bot I already have?

Too many new lines competing for a slice of the same old pie - something's gotta give. Maybe ThreeA should just cut all the original stuff and just stick to the licenses. They obviously make money, and hell we might actually get a good range of quality figures from a universe people actually like. I mean fuck, ThreeA's making Destiny figures right now - that's as mainstream as you can get. Indie my ass.

Personally, I'm kind of "figured" out.  I think I'll be gradually taking a figure break at this point and reevaluating my collection.  Not just 3A but all others as well. I mean I love figures, but I think I'll appreciate my collection more if I actually make some hard choices and get rid of those that I can't appreciate stored away in their boxes.  It's going to be tough, but I think I need to get rid of the clutter.  Of course I still have some figures on preorder so that's not going to help my addiction.  But that's why I'm going to make this a gradual process so that I'm not hitting a hard withdrawal.

im the opposite not being so obsessed with threeA has allowed me to get back in touch with what had me collecting in the first place, dope fleshed characters i know more than two sentences about from cool stories. hard to explain but removing the threeA only blinders has been very rewarding.

I have only been into threeA for a few months and have read the Popbot stories and the WWR book and i have been more attracted to the earlier figures, mainly picking up TK's and a Badbot - trying to avoid destroying my bank account collecting both Popbot AND WWR. Seeing the newer releases is still great, but i'm still searching for the older ones and it is pretty rough since the secondary market prices are high to pretty damn outrageous. So that limits my purchases, which is a good thing, i think.
But then again there's Star Wars and my new found love of 1/6 scale figures so i guess my bank account is doomed either way Neutral Damn you Hot Toys! Evil or Very Mad

That's all good and great having a figure connected to a story, but seeing as I stopped collecting/reading comics years ago, I don't have that connection unless the figures come with poster/comic art.  For me collecting figures 3A and otherwise has been about design; seeing things that I haven't seen done before in the sixth scale "human" figure form.  Things that inspire me sculpturally.  3A took up that space for me for the most part the past 7 years.  Now that I've seen what 3A has done and continues to do, it's kind of like eating your favorite food too much that it makes you want to throw up or at least take a break and/or explore other things.  I'm not hatin' on 3A, just a little engorged with figures in general.

Anyway ill, you probably don't/didn't buy as much as your average figure collector, do you?   Which probably helped/helps you keep a balanced frame of mind.

Yeah, what initially drew me in was the TK/Popbot design. That dirty weathered look, the tweaked out articulation, and the ability for sticking great poses is part of the allure i have with threeA. I've recently got back into collecting figures about a year ago and yes i'm not the average figure collector. In the past mainly star wars and spawn stuff and whatever i thought looked great, but the since i've gotten in to 1/6 scale it is a tiny collection compared to most collectors. I've always avoided 12" figures due to the price but i've grown to appreciate them and see them in a different view, especially coming from the smaller scale figures and some vinyl toy collecting i did years ago. So yeah, everything is still very new to me - not to mention the spaces i can still fill on my shelves, which is filling up faster than i thought.
